Iowa State profited from stolen land

As the Iowa Board of Regents forces its pro-discrimination policies on Iowa's public universities, we're sometimes forced to censor our web content, including removing factual statements that may be uncomfortable for white supremacists to acknowledge. Here is one such factual statement we recently removed from a library webguide:
As a land-grant university, Iowa State University initially built its endowment through the lease and sale of land ceded to the United States by the Ho-Chunk, Ioway, Mdewahkanton, Meskwaki, Missouria, Omaha, Otoe, Sauk, Sisseton, Wahpekuta, Wahpeton, Winnebago, and Yankton. These land cessions were attempts by the tribes to preserve their ways of life and sovereignty in the face of white settler encroachment and U.S. military force. The tribes did not benefit from or participate in Iowa State's use of their lands.
